Bi-fold doors maximise light in a room and have the effect of bringing the outside in, which means that you can transition seamlessly from your indoor space to your outdoor space. For this reason, they’re a natural choice when it comes to modern interior design concepts.
There are many benefits associated with timber bi-fold doors. As well as maximising natural light, they are an investment that adds a highly-premium feel to a property. Other benefits include easy maintenance and of course security. The large glass panels are relatively simple to clean and the multipoint locking system, robust structure and tough glazing make bi-fold doors an excellent choice in terms of security.
Whatsmore, they’re a good investment if you’re renovating a property to be more energy efficient. Despite the initial outlay, they’re likely to save you energy costs and keep your home draft-free and toasty in the winter, while allowing you to fully ventilate your home in the warmer months and make the most of the wonderfully sunny weather.
A good quality timber bi-fold door can be expected to last a very long time. Our custom-made door sets can be manufactured in either Idigbo, Sapele, European Oak or speciality hardwoods which can be stained or painted.
We use 24mm toughened Planitherm Total Argon filled units, set into 57mm door leaves, which give a whole product the industry required U-value of below 1.4 W/MK, and up to 6m per each door where the width is maximum 1.2m wide. For security, the use of 4-point Espagnolette door locks on the access door or locking slide bolts within the opening system makes the door safe and secure.
To match the excellent quality of our manufactured timber bi-fold doors, we use top hung Centor hardware for effortless opening with multiple door combinations to a maximum of 6.0m wide per set and 1.0m per 1.0m door.
In terms of additional specifications, we can incorporate integral blinds within the double-glazed units, or even give the doors a more traditional look with a high-quality planted bar system.
